Duties
|
Tutors work with local elementary school-aged children in subjects of reading and math. Tutors work at the direction and under the supervision of our community partners. Specific duties will depend on the program, but all programs (with the exception of Garlough) will provide curriculum to follow with a child one-on-one. A placement at Garlough will require a tutor to come up with their own activities and work with a group of kids. This position takes place off-campus in St Paul or West St Paul.

Qualifications
|
* Currently enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits at Inver Hills Community College * Have a completed FAFSA on file; eligible for work study * Punctual, reliable and accountable for your work schedule * Able to patiently and effectively communicate concepts through one-on-one and small group tutoring * Must have a keen interest in helping students from various backgrounds succeed * Pass a criminal background check * Ability to provide own transportation to and from tutoring site * Ability to attend tutor orientation and training * Commitment to attend monthly tutor staff meetings on campus * You DO NOT need to be interested in an education career path to be a tutor!
