Duties You can choose to work with any of these partner programs: Reading Partners (readingpartners.org/location/twin-cities/) Various shifts/Daytime Monday through Thursday One-on-one reading tutoring with students at Benjamin E. Mays Magnet School (St Paul), Maxfield Elementary School (St Paul) and Phalen Lake Hmong Studies Elementary School (St Paul) Boys and Girls Club Twin Cities (https://boysandgirls.org/) Assist Boys and Girls Club staff with STARS program (reading for 5-9 year olds) after school. For locations, visit https://boysandgirls.org/who-we-are/club-locations/ East Side Learning Center (eastsidelearningcenter.org/) Various shifts/Daytime Monday through Thursday One-on-one reading tutoring with kids in grades K-3. To see current schools and tutoring times, visit eastsidelearningcenter.org/who-we-are/our-locations CommonBond Communities, Torre de San Miguel Homes (commonbond.org/) Tuesdays and/or Thursdays, 3:30-7p This community is located in West St Paul. Their after school program, Study Buddies, will match you with a student to help with reading and math. Tailored curriculum and activities are provided, as well as tutor trainings and on-site staff support. Do you have your own placement idea at a school not listed here? There is an opportunity to set up your own placement or to tutor at an Inver Grove Heights elementary school, although these placements will not be as structured and will require more confidence and initiative in working with children.
Qualifications Punctual, reliable and accountable for your work schedule Able to patiently and effectively communicate concepts through one-on-one and small group tutoring • Must have a keen interest in helping students from various backgrounds succeed • Pass a criminal background check • Ability to provide own transportation to and from tutoring site • Ability to attend tutor orientation and training • Commitment to attend monthly tutor staff meetings on campus • You DO NOT need to be interested in an education career path to be a tutor
